Rainbow Trails

Materials: Coloured popcorn (a different colour for each lodge)

What to Do: Following rainbow trails in lodges is a great way to spend an evening in a neighbourhood park or field. Beforehand, you need to pop up lots and lots of popcorn. Using a different colour for each lodge, dye it with food colouring. On the meeting day, send a leader for each lodge ten minutes ahead of the group to scatter coloured popcorn in a trail that crosses the path of another trail at least once and eventually converges with all the other trails at a convenient central spot. Assign each lodge its colour, walk to the park, and send the Beavers off to follow their popcorn trail. Of course, they'll need to keep their eyes on the ground. What other interesting things do they see as they go? When the whole colony comes together again, sit down around a huge bowl of coloured popcorn and enjoy the treat before heading back to the meeting hall.
