The Mysterious Rolling Can
Materials: a can (hole) opener; a can with a plastic lid (from coffee); elastic bands; scissors; a heavy bolt.
What to do: Using the can hole maker, make two holes opposite each other on the end of the can. Punch similarly spaced holes in the plastic lid using your scissors. Cut an elastic band open and feed it through the end holes in the can, so both ends of the elastic are inside the can. Stretch the ends so that they reach the lid, and figure out where the middle of the elastic will be located. Tie the bolt at this spot, so it will be located in roughly the middle of the can. Thread the two ends of the elastic straight out through the two holes in the lid (try not to twist the elastics, but keep them straight as you thread them). Tie the elastic ends on the outside of the lid, and fasten the lid on the can. Now have fun watching the mysterious movements of your cans, as you roll them away from you and they come rolling right back in your direction!
